First Alert: WCK Responds to Torrential Rains in Spain

October 19, 2026

World Central Kitchen is responding to DANA Adam, which struck eastern Spain over the weekend. In some of the hardest-hit areas in the Valencia and Alicante regions, torrential rains caused flooding and destruction. Our teams have mobilized resources from our Madrid operations center and are working closely with local partners to serve meals to impacted families and first responders.

WCK has a robust network of partners in Spain that allows us to support communities impacted by disaster. This year, our teams have responded to several natural disasters across Spain, from flooding in Madrigueras earlier this month to the rash of wildfires that erupted across the country over the summer. In the spring, we also served Cádiz and Málaga provinces after Storm Leonardo struck.

In 2024, we responded to the devastating DANA flooding in Valencia, serving more than 6 million meals over the course of several months. Our strong community in Spain and globally are critical to helping us serve families in need.

WCK is responding to multiple climate and natural disasters at once. We have teams supporting families impacted by Typhoon Champi, which just made landfall on Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands as a Category 4 storm. In the southeastern US, we are winding down our support of families impacted by Hurricane Isaias, including communities in Alabama and Florida.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for real time updates.
